KARACHI – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to protest outside the parliament against K-Electric due to prolonged and unannounced load-shedding in Karachi today (Tuesday). Lawmakers belonging to the MQM held an important meeting at Parliament Lodges to discuss Tuesday’s protest against K-Electric. The Karachi mayor and deputy mayor and chairmen of Hyderabad and other districts also attended the meeting. The meeting also discussed Tuesday’s sit-in outside the Parliament. Earlier, the electricity was not restored in different areas of Karachi after many hours of rainfall. Few minutes of rain in Karachi exposed performance of K-Electric as rainfall plunged most parts of Karachi into darkness. The citizens continue to suffer from long hours of power outages on Monday evening on Tuesday. Torrential rains wreaked havoc, bringing with it hours-long power outages in multiple neighbourhoods despite claims by the K-Electric that it had made improvements in its system ahead of the thunderstorm. The areas facing power outage include Gulshan-e-Iqbal block, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Gul Bahar, Malir, North Karachi, Gulistan-e-Johar, Landhi, Korangi, North Nazimabad, Malir, Defence, and other parts of the city.
