KARACHI (92 News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has announced to leave the federal cabinet. The announcement was made in a press conference held by the party in Karachi. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that he was resigning from his post as minister for information technology. “We had supported [PTI] in forming the government. We are not taking back our cooperation,” he added. “We had promised the government that we would help in forming the government and we have fulfilled the promise. None of our promises were fulfilled,” Khalid Maqbool maintained. “It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to remain a part of the federal cabinet. My sitting in Cabinet has been raising questions,” he added. To a question about the proposal of ministries by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Siddiqui said Bilawal Bhutto has no link with his announcement and decision. “This has nothing to do with PPP’s offer,” he added. To another question regarding ending the alliance with the government, the MQM-P convener said, “We did not ask for the law ministry neither did we propose Farogh Naseem’s name. The two names that we had proposed for the ministry did not include Farogh Naseem’s name. The government had selected his Farogh Naseem name on its own.” Khalid Maqbool explained that two agreements were done with PTI, one in Bani Gala, the other in the Bahadurabad, in the presence of Jahangir Tareen. “This has nothing to do with PPP’s offer,” he added. The MQM Convener regretted their reservations with regard to the situation in Sindh were not addressed even after 16-17 months. He mentioned it has become difficult to hold a position in the federal cabinet when the people in Sindh continue to suffer. He said that after a detailed discussion on Friday, the MQM-P Coordination Committee reached the conclusion that his holding the minister’s post served no purpose, he spelled out. Earlier, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto offered Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to join the Sindh government. He gave offer to the MQM party to quit the alliance with federal government and join the Sindh government. “MQM should leave the alliance with the incumbent government for saving Sindh,” he added. Bilawal Bhutto mentioned that every slogan of Prime Minister Imran Khan has proved to be false. “MQM should leave PTI and join the PPP. We are ready to give same ministries to the MQM which they have in the federal government,” he offered. The PPP chairman said that the people should be given basic rights. “History witnessed that the PPP always supported and stand with the poor people. Closure of gas is an anti-federation project,” he added.
