KARACHI (92 News) - The approval of the census by the federal cabinet was once again rejected by the government's ally Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Friday.

Addressing a press conference MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the first demand to join the government was a correct census. "The government has been informed about the concerns over census. We will approach the people for this public demand," he added.

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that his party has decided to reach out to the people of Karachi and other urban areas of Sindh to seek their opinion regarding a future course of action.

"The government must answer why they are not doing anything to address our concerns despite having the constitutional option to do so?" he asserted.

He also said that as you all know, for decades urban areas of Sindh and especially Karachi have been left behind in every sphere of life. "The population of Sindh was shown to be low, now it has been proved that it was done deliberately," he mentioned.

"Despite all the excesses, Karachi still pays 60 to 65 per cent in the treasury of Pakistan. Injustices with Karachi seem to be a national consensus, the big cities of Sindh have always been ignored."
