KARACHI (92 News) - Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that the census is necessary, however, the demand of MQM and PTI is the same.

In an interview with 92 News, the governor said an immediate census could delay local elections. "Prime Minister Imran Khan plans to start preparations for the census in 2022 and the election 2023 will be held according to new census results," he added.

Imran Ismail further said that if the census is wrong then it will be known from the next census. "If the census data is not correct than we will do it again. The Constituencies will also have to be done according to the new census," he maintained.

The Sindh governor said that the issue regarding MQM’s protest is that local body elections are near and a census cannot be held in just one month. However, he noted that MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui’s demand for a census in urban areas is legitimate.
