MQM’s Kanwar Naveed Jamil wins NA-246 by-poll

KARACHI (92 News) – Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) candidate Kanwar Naveed Jamil won NA-246 Karachi-VIII by-poll with a massive lead of 76,193 votes on Thursday, according to unofficial results of all 213 polling stations. Kanwar Naveed Jamil secured 93,125 votes while his nearest rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Imran Ismail remained runner-up with 16,932 votes. Jamaat-e-Islami's (JI) candidate Rashid Naseem secured 6,386 votes for third position. Earlier, clashes erupted after MQM workers attacked a PTI office and also burnt the party flag. Contingents of Sindh Rangers and more than 7373 police personnel were deployed in the constituency to avoid any untoward incident after the whole constituency of NA-246 was declared sensitive by the Election Commission of Pakistan. Also earlier, Rangers arrested two individuals including a presiding officer for allegedly attempting to cast bogus votes at the Delhi School. Rangers handed over the fines to the arrested men using magisterial powers. Kanwar wins
