Former SP Mufakhar Adeel awarded life imprisonment in Shahbaz Tatla murder case

LAHORE (92 News) - Additional Sessions Judge Shabraiz Akhtar Raja awarded life imprisonment to former SP Mufakhar Adeel in the murder case of former Assistant Advocate General Shahbaz Tatla on Friday.

However, the court acquitted co-accused Asad Sarwar Bhatti and Constable Irfan giving them the benefit of doubt. In all, 28 witnesses testified in the case.

According to the police, Mufakhar Adeel and Asad Bhatti had kidnapped Shahbaz Tatla from Kalma Chowk. They administered some intoxicant to Shahbaz Tatla who fell unconscious.

Mufakhar Adeel suffocated Tatla to death by putting a pillow on his mouth. Later, the accused put the body into an acid drum and threw the solution into a gutter.

In his preliminary statement, Mufakhafar Adeel told police that he had fled from Lahore after murdering Tatla.

"In 2012, my former wife went to the house of Tatla after developing differences with me. He raped my wife and later I divorced her over this issue. Shahbaz Tatla also tried to rape my second wife and informed her about his former wife. My wife told me the story. Later, I planned his murder in revenge," he had told the police.
