ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sent a report to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) about the candidates having dual nationality. According to the report, as many as 22 candidates, including Sindh former chief minister Murad Ali Shah, PTI’s Faisal Vowda, Nadir Leghari, Fauzia Kasuri, Murad Ras and Ahmed Yar Hiraj, have dual nationality. Forty-nine candidates for the National Assembly and 53 candidates for the Punjab Assembly have dual nationality. On the other hand, 11 candidates from Sindh Assembly, eight from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one candidate for the Balochistan Assembly have dual nationality. Of 122, 60 candidates are British and 26 US nationals. The candidates have dual nationality will have to renounce the dual nationality. They will only be allowed to contest the elections after renouncing their dual nationality. They will have to present certified documents of renouncing the dual nationality to the returning officers. In case of not submitting the clearance certificate, the ROs will decide their fate.
