Murder allegations against Zardari: Court rejects bail plea of Sheikh Rasheed

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Magistrate Umar Shabbir rejected the bail plea of Awami Muslim League (AML) chairman Sheikh Rasheed in a case pertaining to murder allegations against former president Asif Zardari.

The court announced the reserved verdict in the case. Sheikh Rasheed is in jail on the judicial remand.

Sardar Abdur Razzaq, counsel for Sheikh Rasheed, termed the case a joke. He said that his client would participate in the elections and would return to power. He announced to file a plea against the verdict.

Salman Munir, counsel for the complainant, said that Sheikh Rasheed's statements were aimed at creating provocation. "Sheikh Rasheed was sentenced in a case for carrying a Kalashnikov in the 90s," he stated.

He said that the accused would against create provocation after his bail.
