Murder of MPA Asad Khokhar’s brother: Suspect's startling revelations

LAHORE (92 News) - Suspects who confessed to killing MPA Asad Khokhar’s brother has recorded his statement before the police.

It is pertinent to mention here that suspect named Nazim arrested soon after the murder of MPA Asad Khokhar’s brother. The presence of the suspect at the event has exposed serious lapses in Chief Minister Buzdar’s security protocols who had also attended the wedding function where the incident took place.

During the initial interrogation, the suspect named Nazim confessed to killing him in revenge. He also told the police that Malik Mubashar, the lawmaker’s brother, was allegedly involved in the murders of his brother and uncle.

He explained the police that he, carrying a pistol, arrived at the walima ceremony at around 8:15 am, adding that the guards did not stop him at the gate for a body search.

MPA Asad Khokhar and his brother Mudassar passed by him twice when he was sitting with other guests at the ceremony, he added. The suspect said that he came out of the marquee by walking behind the Punjab’s chief minister.

“I opened fire on Malik Mubashar when the Punjab chief minister was sitting in his vehicle,” he told the police. Nazim further told the police that he had bought the weapon for Rs 4,000.

The police have registered a case into the murder of Punjab MPA Asad Khokhar’s brother. The case was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s nephew at Defence C police station. Nazim, the assistant, Umar Hayat and three other unidentified men have been nominated in the case.

The wedding ceremony was underway when Nizam opened fire and shot dead Mubashir Khokhar, the first information report (FIR) read.

The post-mortem of Mubashir Khokhar dead body was carried out late Friday night. The cause of dead was declared head injury. The dead body was later shifted to the mortuary of a private hospital.

Brother of Asad Khokhar, the designated provincial minister, was killed in firing during the 'Walima' reception of his son in Defence area on Friday.

A man was also injured and shifted to hospital. The police have reportedly arrested one of the accused.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and several provincial ministers important were also present in the walima. Musarrat Cheema has condemned the incident.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident, sought a report from IGP Punjab and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
