Mureed Abbas’ killer had to pay Rs1.5637 billion to investors: police

KARACHI (92 News) – Atif Zaman, the killer of anchor Mureed Abbas, had to pay Rs1.5637 billion to the investors. According to the preliminary report prepared by the police, Mureed Abbas had invested Rs117.2 million with Atif Zaman who had to pay Rs29.3 million as profit to him. Atif Zaman used to pay Rs301.5 million monthly as profit to the investors. Khizar Hayat, another deceased, had invested Rs15.8 million with Atif Zaman. The police will also investigate the double murder, while an application to the NAB to probe the financial issues. On the other hand, Atif Zaman, the killer of Mureed Abbas and Khizar Hayat, could not be produced in court. The investigation officer told the court that the bill of the accused’s treatment was not being paid. The counsel appealed to court to shift the accused to Jinnah Hospital. However, Atif’s uncle said that he would pay the hospital bill. On Thursday, a local court summoned eyewitnesses for recording their testimonies in the double murder case. Police detained and booked Atif Zaman for allegedly killing Mureed Abbas and Khizar Hayat in the Khayaban-i-Bukhari area of the Darakhshan police station the night of July 9. Darakhshan police had registered two cases against Atif — one under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of Mureed Abbas’s wife and the other for attempting to commit suicide.
