Musharraf resigns as chairman of APML

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Former president Pervez Musharraf on Friday resigned as the chairman of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), said APML president Dr Mohammad Amjad. According to the details garnered, Musharraf has sent his resignation to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He appointed Dr Amjad as the chairman of his political party APML. The former president resigned due to the verdict of Peshawar High Court (PHC) of his disqualification. Dr Amjad said he has been appointed as new chairman of the party by the former president because Musharraf was unable to run the it from abroad. Earlier this week, the Election Commission rejected Musharraf’s nomination papers for NA-1 Chitral, after the Supreme Court withdrew its conditional approval for the former ruler to file nomination papers for the upcoming general election after he failed to appear before the court.
