Musharraf’s decision to enter politics was wrong: DG ISPR

LONDON (92 News) – DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor has said that Army is not the root of all evil while Musharraf’s decision to enter politics was wrong. In a media briefing at Pakistan High Commission in London on Saturday, he said that Pakistan is only country that won the war against terrorism. “We will end check-posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if peace is restored in Afghanistan,” he said. The DG ISPR said that the proofs of army’s intervention, if any, in the elections should be presented. “Reforms are the job of the government, not the army. Only passage to success is democracy,” he maintained. He said that no soldier desists from sacrificing his life for Pakistan. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that usually disappointment is spread on the social media and the people should avoid it for seeking peace. “Progress is not possible until institutions support each other,” he said. He said that army’s work will reduce to a half if police get strengthened. The DG ISPR said that big countries avoid meeting each over issues. “Pakistan is only country which meets and holds talks with all countries, including India, China, Afghanistan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia,” he maintained. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that Pakistan Army is an institution protecting CPEC. “All institutions, including Pak Army and judiciary, should support political governments for country’s stability,” he said. He was of the view that as an institution, it is their top priority to enhance Pakistan’s image.
