Musharraf will not be arrested on his return, assures CJ

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday summoned former president Pervez Musharraf on June 13 at SC Lahore Registry and assured he will not be arrested upon his return to Pakistan. A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard Musharraf’s review petition against his disqualification by the Peshawar High Court in 2013. During the hearing, the chief justice asked that who is Pervez Musharraf. To reply, th lawyer informed that he was former (r) army chief and president. The SC ordered the former military ruler to appear before the SC Lahore registry on June 13. The CJP assured that Musharraf’s will not be arrested during his appearance in court. Justice Nisar allowed to Musharraf for submission of nomination papers but conditional to the final verdict on his lifetime disqualification appeal. Earlier, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) had announced lifetime disqualification for former president Pervez Musharraf prior to the 2013 general election. Musharraf had filed a plea in 2016 in the Supreme Court against PHC’s verdict.
