NA passes Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2020 with majority

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Assembly on Wednesday passed the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2020 with majority, days after the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance approved it. The bill was moved by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Naseem. The House passed five bills in total in today’s session including the Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, the Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2020, the Control of Narcotic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and the Islamabad Capital Territory Trust Bill, 2020. It is pertinent to mention here that under the bill, the restrictions will be imposed to provide loans or financial assistance to banned organizations and their affiliates. "Those who have revoked weapons will be punished. Those involved in terrorism will be fined up to 50 million rupees." The bill also includes strict measures against those working for prohibited individuals or organizations. Speaking to the floor of NA session, Farogh Naseem had said it was a historic day that the FATF-related legislation was being carried out with consensus in the larger interest of the country. “Whitening the economy and checking terror financing is important to take the country forward on the path of development,” he added.
