ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Assembly on Wednesday passed "The Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Bill, 2015", through which the local government election in the capital territory will be held on party-basis.
The Bill, moved by Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Balighur Rehman, has already been passed by the Senate with amendments.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the government has accepted all the amendments proposed by the Opposition in the Senate. "It is for the first time that Local Government Elections will be held in Federal Capital," he said.
The Minister said all political parties want local government elections and it is also a constitutional obligation.
