ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The voting on extension of military courts period will be held in the National Assembly on Tuesday (today).

The bill was tabled in the House regarding extension of Military Courts period.

Earlier, the government had on Monday (yesterday) presented Military Courts Extension Bill in the National Assembly.

Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party leader Mahamood Khan Achakzai opposed the bill.

Achakzai was of the view that supporting the bill would hurt the sentiments of the judges of the superior courts.

Awami National Party’s Sheikh Rashid, however, first opposed the bill and then supported it.

The bill would extend the tenure of the military courts for two years. Four out of the 9 suggestions made by the Pakistan People’s Party have also been included in the bill.

The Senate and National Assembly resumed sessions at Parliament House in Islamabad on Monday after a two-day break.
