NAB arrests Zardari in another new case: sources
July 1, 2019
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau sources informed on Monday that former president Asif Ali Zardari has also been arrested in Park Lane case on Monday. The corruption watchdog body further tightened noose around the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman and now arrested in another new case. The anti-graft watchdog also decided to present Zardari before an accountability court for taking physical remand in next 24 hours. The sources also said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto is also a suspect in the Park Lane case. It is noteworthy that the NAB has already arrested the former president in the fake bank accounts case. In June, the NAB had arrested Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari from his Islamabad residence after the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) rejected his pre-arrest bail plea. A 15-member team of the corruption watchdog body – accompanied by police personnel – arrested Asif Ali Zardari from his residence in Islamabad. A number of party workers and Zardari’s children Bilawal and Aseefa saw him off as the former president was driven away in a black Landcruiser. The emotional scene has also been seen when Zardari hugs and kisses her daughter Assefa Zaradri. After sitting in the NAB’s vehicle, Bilawal Bhutto also gave kiss on the face of Zardari and saw him off. The PPP co-chairman was shifted to the NAB Rawalpindi office. The arrest comes hours after the Islamabad High Court rejected an application seeking extension in the pre-arrest bails of Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur in the fake accounts case. Police personnel, including female officials, had entered the former president’s house after the court decision. All roads leading to the residence were blocked by police.
