LAHORE (92 News) - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has cancelled the appearance of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz after a clash between N league workers and police outside the bureau office. According to the details garnered, chaos ensued outside NAB Lahore office after PML-N workers and supporters clashed with the police ahead the appearance of Maryam Nawaz. The PML-N workers pelted stones at police deployed outside the NAB office and turning the area into a virtual battlefield. The police personnel fired tear gas shells to disperse the workers when they tried to force their way through the barricades placed there for security purposes. Keeping in view the tense situation outside its office, the anti-corruption watchdog canceled Maryam’s today appearance before its combined investigation team at a time when she had already reached the NAB office. Earlier, the anti-graft body summoned details from the PML-N vice-president about her source of income through which she purchased the aforementioned land and the taxes that she paid. The PML-N leadership completed consultations on legal matters and decided that Maryam Nawaz will present her stance before the bureau. The PML-N workers accompanied Maryam Nawaz from Jati Umrah to the NAB office in a convoy. Maryam nawaz reached the NAB office from Jati Umra in a caravan. The PML-N workers also arrived before her arrival. The N league workers violated the SOPs of coronavirus pandemic. They did not wear masks and ignored the social distancing. Talking to the workers during unconventional conversations, Maryam Nawaz said, "We are stand on our stance, no matter how many tactics the government adopted." On August 6, the NAB has summoned Maryam Nawaz in a case of illegal transfer of 200 acres of Jati Umra land. In 2013, 200 acres of land was transferred to her in Raiwind, while 100 acres each were transferred to Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif. Sources said that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) rules were completely ignored in transfer of land. The NAB also decided to investigate former DCOs Noorul Amin Mengal and Ahad Cheema in this regard. Earlier in May, the NAB Lahore had opened an investigation against the Sharif family for 'illegally acquiring' hundreds of acres of land in Raiwind to include it in its Jati Umra residence.
