ISLAMABAD (92 News) - National Accountability Bureau Chairman Aftab Sultan presented his resignation to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, citing personal reasons.
The prime minister appreciated the services of Aftab Sultan and lauded his honesty and uprightness. Upon his insistence, the prime minister reluctantly accepted his resignation.
Addressing the officer during the farewell party, Aftab Sultan said that he had reservations about some things that he was asked to do. "I always worked as per merit and law.
He said that he was asked to jail the person who even got one plot while billionaires are abroad. "I cannot tolerate interference of other institutions in the National Accountability Bureau. I thought it appropriate to resign under the present circumstances," he maintained.
Aftab Sultan served as the NAB chairman for six months.
