NAB chairman reviews performance of Peshawar bureau

PESHAWAR (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal visited NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa office and reviewed the performance of the regional office on Tuesday. The NAB chairman presided the meeting in Peshawar bureau of anti-graft. During the meeting, the KP NAB director general briefed about the performance of the bureau. He apprised that the NAB KP received ten thousands eight five complaints. The inquiry was approved for 796 complaints, while the investigations are continued on 141 complaints. However, 98 investigations have also been approved. On the occasion, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal said that the corruption watchdog body is making sincere efforts for eradicating the corruption from roots in the country. Javed Iqbal also said that taking white collar crimes cases of mega corruption to the logical conclusion was the top priority of the NAB. “During the last 22 months, NAB has recovered embezzled money to the tune of Rs71 billion and deposited in national exchequer, he said. The NAB chairman maintained that the performance of NAB has been lauded by national and international institutes. He further said that KP NAB was an important regional bureau which played key role in the overall performance of accountability organization.

NAB approves three corruption references

On Sep 6, meeting of the Executive Board of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) under the chair of Chairman Justice (rtd) Javed Iqbal has given approval to file three corruption references, investigations and inquires. The Board accorded approval to file a new corruption reference against former information minister Sharjeel Memon. The anti-graft body approved inquiry against Fawad Hassan Fawad in connection with the matter of Port Qasim Authority matter, while the meeting decided not to inquire sales and income tax matters. Addressing the meeting, NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal reiterated the Bureau’s commitment to eradicate corruption from the society and take the mega corruption cases to their logical end. He said NAB has so far recovered 71 billion rupees and deposited in the national kitty. He also mentioned that they resolved the issues of traders and established a cell in the NAB offices for solution or reviewing the problems of businessman. Earlier, the NAB has started investigations against PPP leader Syed Khurshid Shah.  The NAB has sent a letter to the Dadu deputy commissioner, ordering him to send details of the property owned by Syed Khurshid Shah and his family within five days.
