NAB chief chairs key meeting to review corruption cases against Sharif family

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Thursday has chaired key meeting at anti-graft watchdog’s headquarters. According to details garnered, the meeting reviewed corruption cases against Sharif family, Lahore Development Authority former Director General Ahad Cheema and former principal secretary to the Prime Minister, Fawad Hassan Fawad. They also discussed development in references against ex-PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal and ex-finance minister Miftah Ismail. According to the NAB sources, the key progress report of NAB investigation on the sugar and flour scandals has also been presented during the meeting. The briefing regarding investigation of fake bank accounts cases and references were given to the NAB chairman. Earlier, meeting of Executive Board of NAB, chaired by Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, approved several important inquires, references and investigations on Tuesday. According to the statement issued by NAB, the meeting has approved a corruption inquiry against son of political secretary of former President Asif Ali Zardari. The meeting also approved corruption investigation against Akram Durrani and officials of Housing Ministry. The statement further stated that NAB have submitted Rs178 billion in national exchequer in last two years, while accountability courts are still hearing 1229 references filed by the anti-corruption watchdog.
