NAB decides to form special cell for effective probe of white-collar crime

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to form a special cell for effective investigation of white-collar crime on Thursday. According to the sources, the special cell – comprising experienced bankers, chartered accountants, investigation and tax officers – will assist the anti-corruption watchdog officials. The special cell will be authorized to seek guidance from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other concerned departments. Earlier, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal visited Lahore office. DG Shahzad Saleem briefed him about the inquiry being conducted against Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in a case pertaining to the liquor licences. He also briefed the NAB chairman about the cases against PTI leaders Aleem Khan, Sibtain KHan, Khusru Bakhtiar, Hashim Jawan Bakhat, Ansar Niazi and Ghazanfar Cheena. The DG also apprised him about the inquiries against PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Karamat Khokhar. Speaking on the occasion, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that the corrupt elements will be dealt with an iron hand. On the other hand, the Multan NAB also summoned Punjab former food minister Samiullah Chaudhry in the assets beyond income case. Samiullah Chaudhry had resigned over the wheat scandal.
