NAB decides to initiate massive action against Shehbaz Sharif
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to initiate massive action against Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the sources, the corruption watchdog body also decided to seize the assets of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif, accumulated through illegal means.
The sources further told that for stopping transfer of illegal assets, the NAB will send a letter to the authorities concerned. The sources also said that his bungalows situated in 96 Model Town Lahore, Dinga Gali and a residential house in KP and luxury vehicles will be confiscated.
“The properties were purchased through Telegraphic Transfer (TT) money”, the sources revealed. It also alleged that Shehbaz Sharif purchased benami properties in name of his family, adding that he bought four apartment worth of Rs154 million in London.
The sources said that Shehbaz Sharif could not defend the income used to purchase this property.
The anti-graft watchdog decision came a day after Britain-based publication Daily Mail exposed an alleged money laundering scandal of Shehbaz Sharif from the UK government aid for earthquake victims in Pakistan.
Following to the revelation, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar announced on Sunday to send the matter of alleged money laundering allegations on Shehbaz Sharif in an investigative story by UK’s daily Mail to the Inquiry Commission.
Talking to Channel 92 after disclosure of new allegations published in daily Mail’s story, Akbar said things are now crystal clear and the government would take the matter to the IC.
He said more arrests would be expected in the latest money laundering allegations, adding Shehbaz Sharif’s son Suleman Shehbaz is the main culprit in the laundering of UK aid fund for earthquake victims. Suleman Shehbaz was summoned to Pakistan several times in relation to the allegations, but he didn’t appear, Akbar further said. Akbar requested the UK government to extradite the suspects or give access to them.
