NAB decides to summon Zardari in fake account case
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi on Monday decided to summon former president Asif Ali Zardari in the fake bank accounts case.
According to the sources, a key progress has been come in the probe of fake bank account case, however, the anti-graft watchdog decided to interrogate from Zardari and his siter Faryal Talpur.
The sources also said that Sindh Chief Minister would also be summoned for investigation in Rawalpindi. The NAB will record the statements of all of them and as well as the questionnaire will be given to them.
NAB submits progress report on fake accounts case in SC
On Feb 8, the NAB submitted its progress report on fake bank account case in Supreme Court (SC).
The further four teams has been constituted and the teams in the leadership of Irfan Mangi left for Karachi to collect evidence from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Excise and Taxation Department and State Bank of Pakistan.
The sources also said that the anti-graft watchdog investigation teams would interrogate the government officials. It added that the notices will soon be sent to the parties in the fake account case.
On the other hand, the Sindh government filed a review petition in the Supreme Court (SC) pertaining to the fake bank accounts case.
The plea requested court to review paragraph 29-35 in the verdict announced on January 7 that ordered the removal of Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah from the exit control list.
“Shifting the hearing of fake bank accounts case to Islamabad will create problems,” the petition stated. “This will create hindrance in conducting a transparent trial.”
Earlier, the graft watchdog– after examining initial findings in the fake bank accounts case – constituted various teams to further investigate into the matter based upon an evidence-based approach.
According to the details garnered, NAB chairman (r) Justice Javed Iqbal presided over a high-level meeting in the bureau’s office in Rawalpindi. The meeting analysed various aspects of initial findings in the investigation and concluded that the Supreme Court directions in the fake account case.
