NAB EB approves several important inquires, references & investigations

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Meeting of Executive Board of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), chaired by Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, approved several important inquires, references and investigations on Tuesday. According to the statement issued by NAB, the meeting has approved a corruption inquiry against son of political secretary of former President Asif Ali Zardari. The meeting also approved corruption investigation against Akram Durrani and officials of Housing Ministry. The statement further stated that NAB have submitted Rs178 billion in national exchequer in last two years, while accountability courts are still hearing 1229 references filed by the anti-corruption watchdog. Earlier, the NAB Executive Board approved the filing of three references. The decision was made during a meeting presided over by Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal. The NAB approved a reference against Khawaja Anwar Majeed and others who face the allegations of corruption and money laundering, causing a loss of Rs340 million to the national kitty. A reference was approved against Syed Arif Khan and others of M/s Canal View for allegedly cheating the general public, causing a loss of Rs266 million to the national exchequer. The third reference has been approved against Balochistan Development Authority former chairman Sadat Anwar for having assets beyond known sources of income.
