NAB files reference against ex-PM Yousuf Raza Gillani

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a reference against former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani for illegally awarding an advertising contract to Midas (Pvt) Ltd in violation of Public Procurement Regulatory Authority rules. The decision was taken at a meeting at the NAB Headquarters chaired by NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal. Former information technology secretary Farooq Awan, former press information officer Muhammad Saleem, former Universal Service Fund company secretary Syed Hasan Sheikh and Midas (Pvt) Ltd CEO Inam Akbar were also named in the references. They are accused of misusing their authority to grant Messrs Midas an advertising contract in contravention of the PPRA rules. The NAB notification says the national exchequer suffered a loss of Rs 128 million as a result of the illegal contract.
