NAB gets one month extension for filing reference against Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An accountability court (AC) in Islamabad on Thursday extended one month deadline of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for filing of reference against PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal in the Narowal Sports City case. Judge Muhammad Bashir conducted the hearing today as the PML-N leader did not appear before court in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The accountability court had given to NAB for filing reference against Ahsan Iqbal till March 26 (today). However, the court extended the deadline for a month and adjourned the hearing.  The PML-N leader has been alleged of misuse of power in the case. He was released by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on bail. Earlier, an accountability court in Islamabad ordered the NAB to file reference against Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) senior leader Ahsan Iqbal in Narowal Sports City project case. The former interior minister appeared before court, and said that he is being punished for good deeds. “Our attendances are being checked and the mafia is wandering independently,” he added. Ahsan Iqbal also said that the reference should be filed against those persons who destroyed Narowal Sports City project. It was also reported that Ahsan Iqbal will appear before the anti-corruption watchdog’s Rawalpindi chapter’s office at 11am and will surrender his passport to the authorities. The PML-N stalwart will also respond to the bureau’s questions about Narowal Sports City (NSC) Project.
