NAB seeks to put Sharif family's names on ECL, freezes Dar's assets

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore chapter has on Saturday sent a letter to its headquarters requesting the chairman to place the names of Sharif family members on the Exit Control List (ECL). The Sharif family members are facing charges relating to their ownership of properties in London. The allegations stem from the 2016 Panama Papers dump linking Sharif's children to offshore companies. They revealed that three of them owned offshore companies and assets not shown on his family's wealth statement. The companies were allegedly used to channel funds to acquire foreign assets, including some apartments along Park Lane in London's Mayfair area. Despite documents from the Panama Papers suggesting that the beneficial owner of the luxury central London flats was the former premier’s daughter Maryam, she later claimed that she was only a trustee - and that it was her brother who was the beneficial owner. On the other hand, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has submitted a report after seizing more property of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. The anti-graft watchdog’s chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal had ordered the seizure of two properties of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
