NAB seeks reference against Hafeez Shaikh, ex-FBR chairmen

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) Karachi office has requested to file a reference against former finance minister Abdul Hafeez, former chairmen of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Abdullah Yousuf and Salman Siqqiuqe.

According to a NAB spokesperson on Monday, NAB Karachi's Regional Board meeting was held under the chair of Karachi NAB DG. The meeting has sent requests to the central office for filing two references and decided to start proceedings in several cases.

"Hafeez Shaikh — who left the ministry a few months back — and two former chairmen of the FBR, Abdullah Yousuf and Salman Siqqiuqe, have incurred losses worth $11 million to the national exchequer," the spokesperson said.

On the other hand, NAB Chairman Justice (rtd) Javed Iqbal chaired a high level meeting in Lahore. The performance of NAB Lahore, especially convictions made under Section 10 of National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) during the years 2018 to 2021 were reviewed during the meeting.

Director General NAB Lahore Shahzad Saleem briefed the meeting that under the dynamic leadership of the current Chairman NAB, 49 persons were convicted by the Accountability Courts, Lahore during 2018 to 2021.
