LAHORE (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday summoned Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif in the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) scandal and assets beyond income.
The PML-N president has also been called for questioning in assets beyond means case. The anti-graft watchdog body has prepared a questionnaire comprising seven questions to be put to Shehbaz during his appearance before it.
He will also be grilled over allegedly owning assets beyond known sources of income.
92 News has received the content of the questionnaire to be given to Shehbaz Sharif.
Sources said that he will be asked a question as why the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) was established when a department was in place.
“Whether all requirements for the establishment of the company were fulfilled? Why was the contract allotted without completing the auction process?” another question to be put to Shehbaz Sharif.
They added that Shehbaz Sharif will also be asked why the summary regarding establishment of LWMC was approved without the opinion of the Finance and Law ministries.
He will also be asked to explain as to why he in his capacity as Punjab’s chief executive approved a loan to bail the company out and why did he reject a plan calling for return of the loan.
According to the NAB, such acts on the part of the former chief minister caused a loss to the provincial exchequer. Shehbaz Sharif will be again summoned if he failed to satisfy the NAB officials.
On March 19, the NAB had claimed to have received more evidences against Shehbaz Sharif in assets beyond mean case.
According to the NAB sources, Nusrat Shehbaz, first wife of Shehbaz Sharif, owned assets worth Rs225.6 million while his second wife, Tehmina Durrani owned assets worth Rs5.7 million in Pakistan.
However, Tehmina Durrani owned eight valuable properties in the Defence area, which were gifted to her by Shehbaz Sharif. Tehmina Durrani also owned a four kanal plot and one acre valuable agricultural land in Gwadar.
