NAB to file supplementary reference against Zardari in Park Lane case

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday has decided to file supplementary reference against former president Asif Ali Zardari in Park Lane case. According to the sources, the bureau has stated that more evidence against PPP leader will be presented before the accountability court. The amount in reference increased from 1.5 billion to 4 billion rupees. The number of approver are also increased and this supplementary reference will be filed this month. Earlier on August 10, accountability court has indicted former president Asif Ali Zardari in Park Lane reference via video link hearing. The hearing was conducted by AC Judge Azam Khan. Asif Ali Zardari, Anwar Majeed along with nine accused were indicted in the reference. Asif Zardari joined the indictment proceedings via video link from Bilawal House Karachi, Anwar Majeed from a hospital in Karachi while three other accused, Farooq Abdullah, Hanif, and Saleem Faisal  joined the video link proceedings from Karachi. The accused refused to accept charge sheet and termed it baseless. During the hearing, the PPP co-chairman has pleaded not guilty in the case and asked the judge to write in the order that there was no defence counsel over which, the judge said that you don‘t need lawyer for listening to the accusations listed in the charge sheet. On August 8, an accountability court (AC) issued a written order pertaining to the indictment proceedings of former president Asif Ali Zardari and others in Park Lane reference. On July 05, Director General (DG) National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh Najaf Mirza constituted three prosecution teams for a video link indictment in the Park Lane case.
