NAB to move SC against suspension of Sharif family’s sentences

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to move the Supreme Court against the suspension of the sentences of the Sharif family. The decision was made during a meeting presided over by NAB chief Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday. The appeal will be filed in the Supreme Court after getting an attested copy of the IHC verdict. The NAB deputy chairman, the prosecutor general and senior officers participated in the meeting. On July 6, Accountabiliy Court No 1 Judge Muhammad Bashir had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 10 years, Maryam Nawaz to seven years and Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar one year in the Avenfield reference case. The Sharif family had moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the accountability court verdict. A two-member bench comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Aurangzeb suspended the sentences and ordered to release all three personalities.
