NAB Voluntary Return Law: SC says NAB facilitating corruption

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court has on Monday directed the Attorney General to submit relay over National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) law pertaining to voluntary return deal. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court resumed the hearing of the suo moto case. During the proceedings, the court asked the Attorney General regarding the government’s stance on NAB’s law and orders him to submit reply within a week. The NAB prosecutor said that the courts direct them for voluntary return deal that allows people guilty of corruption to pay a certain portion of the embezzled money. Justice Ameer Hani Muslim remarked that the Bureau is not bound of court’s directions. Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that the NAB is facilitating corruption in the country and the Bureau is misusing the law. The further directed the government to submit its reply and adjourned the hearing for the next two weeks.
