ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has announced that the bureau will not interfere in the matters of tax and bank default from today. Addressing a press conference on Sunday, he said that all cases pertaining to tax and bank default would be handed over to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and respective banks. The NAB chairman said that some reservations of traders before Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa were totally baseless. “The NAB has neither a role in the dollar price, stock exchange and economy nor in the policy-making process,” he said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=H-X44pOAljM He said that the NAB would not phone any trader. “There is no doubt economy is the backbone of the country. The country will become strong if it gets stronger. Under the present circumstances, the NAB cannot take a step damaging economy,” he said. Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that the NAB had made several attempts to activate the business community. “It is private sector’s job to provide employment. NAB has never wished Saudi-model powers,” he said. He said that the NAB deals with the white collar crime, which is a very complex matter. “No country across the world set a timeframe for the white collar crimes,” he said. The NAB chief said that he had made honest attempt to improve the image of the country. “Corruption plays an important role in the decline of any country,” he said. He said that criticism should be constructive. “The NAB does not belong to a political party. Its objective is to end corruption at the earliest,” he said.
