NAB’s three-member team starts interrogating Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE (92 News) – A three-member team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) started interrogating Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Monday. Sources said that investigations into 56 companies and his assets had also been launched. They revealed that Shehbaz Sharif was disappointed at his arrest and he continues to stare at walls for most of time. “He remains silent. He has been kept in a traditional cell, which has iron bars at the gate,” the sources said. They said that Shehbaz Sharif has been provided a bed for backache. “During the investigations, the NAB team asked Shehbaz Sharif what was the objective behind making public sector companies. Why were the companies formed in the presence of existing departments,” they revealed. The sources said that team also questioned Shehbaz Sharif about the rules and regulations of the public sector companies. “Shehbaz was also questioned about his interference in the contract of Ashiana Housing Scheme,” they added. To the NAB questions, Shehbaz Sharif said that the purpose of companies to introduce good governance in the model province. “The purpose of the Punjab Land Development Company was to provide cheap houses to the poor. Being the head of the province, it was my responsibility to protect the public money. I ordered legal action when I came to know about irregularities in the project,” he said. The NAB will continue to question Shehbaz Sharif till the expiry of his remand.
