NADRA launches CNIC reverification drive

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has on Friday formally launched campaign for reverification of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC). The identity cards of hundreds of thousands of people will be re-verified during the six month countrywide campaign as the campaign formally kicked off from today. NADRA is issuing SMS from 8008 to heads of families to get confirmation of their registered members, while a citizen can also get verified his family sending his CNIC number to 8008. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar directed NADRA to ensure utilization of all its resources to achieve the desired objective of removing aliens from the Authority’s database within the given timeline. He also approved media strategy of NADRA for awareness of masses. National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has established the helpline capable of handling 10,000 calls per day and a gateway of 150,000 SMS per day to facilitate people who will report suspected CNICs issued to aliens.
