Naeema Butt calls out “fake friendships” in showbiz
LAHORE (92 News) Actress Naeema Butt, known for her bold role as Rubab in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, has sparked headlines after she called out the superficial side of the entertainment industry.
In a candid interview on Gup Shab with Vasay Chaudhry, Naeema revealed that many friendships in showbiz are “just for Instagram,” hinting that some of her co-stars acted friendly online but treated her coldly off-camera.
“They acted like close friends online but were trying to push me off stage at events,” she said, without naming names.
She admitted she once mistook online support for genuine friendship but now prefers to keep her distance from inauthentic connections.
The actress also previously raised eyebrows after failing to recognise co-star Hania Aamir in an AI-generated photo, saying, “Working in a drama with someone doesn’t mean you know them.”
Her remarks have sparked online debate, with many praising her honesty and calling her a breath of fresh air in an often image-driven industry.
