ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Nawaz Sharif while criticizing the Supreme Court’s verdict, said that the by disqualifying him from party presidency, the apex court has snatched his administrative power and paralyzed the government after removing him from premiership. Talking to media outside the accountability court, he said that the decisions of the top court were based on revenge and hatred. The ex-PM said that he was disqualified from the premiership on July 28. “My name is Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, snatch it as well,” Sharif added. Sharif went on to say that the Elections Act 2017 was not person-specific, adding that the former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto drafted the law after which a martial law administrator struck it down. On Wednesday, the SC ruled that a disqualified politician cannot lead a political party. The decision was announced by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar that heard 17 petitions against the recently-passed Elections Act 2017. The court also nullified the section 203 of the Elections Act 2017. In its short order, the court remarked that only a person fulfilling the sections 62 and 63 of the Constitution can become the party president.
