Naqeebullah case: Anwar wasn’t present at crime scene, counsel tells ATC

KARACHI (92 News) – Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar's counsel Advocate Amir Mansoob Qureshi argued on Wednesday that his client was not present at the crime scene. An anti-terrorism court in Karachi resumed hearing of the bail plea of former SSP Malir Rao Anwar in the Naqeebullah murder case. Anwar along with the other accused appeared before the court for the hearing today. The former SSP Malir along with 11 of his subordinates has been facing trial before the anti-terrorism court for allegedly killing Naqeebullah Mehsud. The court expressed anger on the police for not presenting final challan of other two accused and issued arrest warrants of former SHO Amanaullah Marwat, Shoib shooter including 12 accused. During the hearing, Anwar's counsel argued that his client was not present at the crime scene." The court asked the counsel that the victims were shot from inside a room and from the back. "How come they were not shot from the front during the encounter," the court also asked. "Anwar was neither involved in catching Naqeebullah nor in the encounter,", Anwar's counsel said. Advocate Qureshi concluded his arguments after three hours.
