Naqeebullah Killing: CTD AIG to chair meeting over Rao Anwar’s arrest today
January 29, 2018
KARACHI (92 News) – An important meeting of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) will be held today after the accused in Naqeebullah Mehsud’s extra-judicial killing could not be arrested following the Supreme Court’s deadline. CTD Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sanaullah Abbasi will preside over the meeting. On January 27, the Supreme Court (SC) set three-day deadline for IG Sindh to arrest the former SSP in the extra-judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud. On Sunday, Inspector General Sindh Police Allah Dino Khawaja sought help of intelligence agencies for the arrest of Malir ex-SSP Rao Anwar. AG Khawaja asked the agencies to provide necessary information to arrest the absconding accused in compliance with the Supreme Court orders. Previously, the Malir ex-SSP was removed from his post after the investigating committee formed to probe the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud found the 27-year-old to be innocent. The probe committee termed SSP Rao Anwar’s allegations against Naqeebullah baseless and stated that there was no proof found of Naqeebullah being a terrorist.
