KARACHI (92 News) – Former Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwaar on Monday refused to appear before the investigating team formed to probe Naqeebullah Mehsud killing. While raising doubts on the investigating team, Rao Anwaar said that he decided not to appear before the probe team as he has no hope of getting justice. I will face cases, he added. A team of human rights and high-level police officials waited but the former SSP and his team didn’t appear before them at Sindh IG office. Anwaar also alleged that a propaganda is being perpetuated against him, and dismissed the allegation that he unlawfully held people under his custody. On the other hand, the family of deceased Naqeebullah Mehsud will reach Karachi today. The people from Mehsud tribe erected a camp at Al-Asif in Sohrab Goth and said that whoever wants to meet Naqeebullah’s brother and father can come to the camp. Earlier, the committee had decided to arrest former Malir SSP Rao Anwaar and other officers. The decision to all DSP’s and SHO’s in Malir was taken during a meeting the committee presided by Counter-Terrorism Department Additional IG Sanaullah Abbasi. Additional Inspector General Police also invited relatives of Mehsud and assured them to provide foolproof security. The Malir SSP was removed from his post after the investigating committee found the 27-year-old to be innocent. The probe committee had declared SSP Rao Anwaar’s allegations against Naqeebullah baseless and stated that there was no proof found of Naqeebullah being a terrorist. The committee had recorded the statements of 19 officials of the Shah Latif police. The officials, in their statements, stated that the Shah Latif SHO had ordered them to reach the site of the incident. “The terrorists had been killed when we reached the place. We did not make the entry in haste,” he said. Moreover, seven officials apprised the high-ranking officials of the facts. The committee has also decided to investigate the close aides of Rao Anwaar.
