February 16, 2018
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday issued show-cause notice to former Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwaar after he failed to appear before court in the extra-judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud case. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the case at the Islamabad registry. During the proceedings, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khawaja appeared before the court, while the former Malir SSP failed to appear before the court despite being granted protective bail by the top court. As the hearing started, the CJP asked Sindh IG AD Khawaja that the court had given Anwar a chance to appear but he didn’t appear before the court despite being granted protective bail. The IG told the court that Anwaar had informed him on WhatsApp that he would appear in court. The court later issued a contempt of court notice to the ex-SSP and also cancelled his protective bail. The bench further ordered the ISI, MI and IB to assist in arresting Anwar and submit a report in this regard in 15 days. The apex court adjourned the hearing for 15 days. Earlier, on February 13, the top court granted protective bail to former Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwaar in the extra-judicial killing case of Naqeebullah Mehsud and directed him to appear in court.
