Nasser Khan Janjua resigns as national security adviser

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Security Adviser (NSA) (r) Lt General Nasser Khan Janjua on Wednesday resigned from the post on Wednesday, confirmed a notification issued by the Cabinet Division. He was appointed as a NSA by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and served since October 23, 2015. Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (r) Nasirul Mulk has accepted Janjua’s resignation. Commissioned in the Punjab Regiment after graduating from Pakistan Military Academy’s (PMA) 59th class, Janjua’s military career saw active service in Siachen against the Indian army. In 2006, he was posted as director-general of Military Operations (MO) and served under Lieutenant-General (retired) Ahmad Shuja Pasha (later DG ISI). He also took part in military negotiation with Indian Army on 23 May 2006 to avoid military accidents at the LoC.
