ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the nation cannot make progress until making the powerful obedient to the law.

Addressing the Rehmatul-Lil Alameen Scholarship ceremony on Thursday, he said that bigwigs steal money and transfers it abroad. "The weak cannot purchase a flat in London no matter how much money he steals," he maintained.

The prime minister announced that the government would spend Rs 5.5 billion each year under the scholarship. "In total, 350,000 scholarships will be awarded," he added.

He said that the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments would separately provide scholarship to students.

Imran Khan reaffirmed the commitment to build Pakistan as a great nation on the principles of the Riyasat-e-Madina. "The government is paying special attention to the education sector with the aim that the youth learn from the Sunnah of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)," he added.

Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that the Rehmatul-Lil Alameen scholarship was for the entire country. "An amount of Rs 28 billion will be spent during five years. As many as 36,000 scholarships will be awarded this year," he added.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that the financial support to students was duty of the government. "A web portal has been launched for fair distribution of the resources," he said.

Khyber Pakhtunkwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan also expressed his resolve to stand by the federal government.
