Nation observes Kashmir solidarity day

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The nation is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day with a pledge to seek a solution to Kashmir dispute according to UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. On this occasion, mass rallies, symposia, walks for peace, conventions and meetings are being held across the country in order to draw world attention towards the plight of oppressed Kashmiri people. Nationwide one-minute silence will be observed at 10am to honor Kashmiri martyrs. In Islamabad, members of the Kashmir Committee of the National Assembly will visit the office of the United Nations to present a memorandum calling on India to grant Kashmiris the right to self determination. People of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will also observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on Sunday with a renewed pledge to seek a solution of longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Public rallies, walks, seminars meeting in order to draw world attention towards the plight of oppressed Kashmiri people will be held. On the occasion, President Mamnoon Hussain in his message said that the government and the people of Pakistan reaffirm their continued and resolute moral, diplomatic and political support to the oppressed people of Occupied Kashmir in their struggle for fundamental right to self-determination. In his message, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan strongly condemns the systemic state terrorism and brutal killings of the innocent people of Kashmir by Indian occupation forces. He said the dream of peace and prosperity of the people of this region will remain elusive without resolving this dispute. The prime minister urged India to stop bloodbath in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and allow a free and fair plebiscite under the UN auspices.
