ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Assembly passed the Elections Act (Amendment) Bill with a majority on Tuesday.

During the proceedings, the opposition members lodged a strong protest and chanted the slogans of ‘Na Manzoor, Na Manzoor’ (unacceptable). The opposition members besieged the dais and tore off the copies of the agenda.

MNA Azhar Kayani presented the bill. According to the text of the bill, the party having no seat in the House cannot get the reserved seats. Each party will have to submit a list in the stipulated period to get the reserved seats. A person not submitting the party ticket will be considered an independent candidate.

However, the House rejected the amendment proposed by PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that the legislation was as per the constitution.
