National Assembly passes Finance Amendment Bill clause-wise

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Finance Amendment Bill was approved clause-wise in the National Assembly session on Thursday.

The government again proved its majority in the National Assembly. The opposition failed to block the passage of the mini-budget.

However, the House rejected the amendments proposed by the opposition. one hundred and fortey six votes were cast in favour of the amendments, while one hundred and sixty-three votes were cast against it.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari were also present in the House. The opposition members also chanted slogans and waved placards.

Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said that they are not imposing new taxes and they are only documenting the economy.

He said that out of Rs 343 billion, Rs 273 billion should go back in the rebate.

He said that their tax GDP has never gone from 18 to 20 percent, the opposition does not want the economy to be documented, because it will have to pay taxes.
