National Poet Dr Allama Iqbal’s 141st birth anniversary today

LAHORE (92 News) – The 141st birth anniversary of Poet of the East Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal is being observed across the country with national fervour on Friday. A change of the guards ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Iqbal. The Navy contingent assumed the duty. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and DG Rangers Saqib Mahmood Malik visited the shrine of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and laid a floral ‘chadar’ on his grave. They also wrote their impressions in the guests’ book. Various literary, educational, political, social and cultural organizations will arrange special programs to pay homage to the national poet and highlight different aspects of his life and teachings. Allama Iqbal conceived the idea of Pakistan and is, therefore, regarded as one of the founding fathers of the country. His best literary work includes Asrar-e-Khudi, Payam- i-Mashriq, Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i-Kalim and Armughan-e-Hijaz. He passed away in Lahore on April 21, 1938.
