National Poet Dr Allama Iqbal’s 143rd birth anniversary today

LAHORE (92 News) – The 143rd birth anniversary of Poet of the East Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal is being observed across the country with national fervour on Monday.

A change of the guards ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Iqbal. The Navy contingent assumed the duty.

Various literary, educational, political, social and cultural organizations will arrange special programs to pay homage to the national poet and highlight different aspects of his life and teachings.

The investiture ceremony of change of guard was held at mausoleum of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal in Lahore.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy assumed the responsibility of guard from Pakistan Rangers.

Station Commander of Pakistan Navy Commodore Naimat-ullah Khan

visited the shrine of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and laid a floral ‘chadar’ on his grave. They also wrote their impressions in the guests’ book.

He was also the chief guest on this occasion who laid floral wreath at the mausoleum and offered prayer. He also penned down his comments in Visitors' book and paid tribute to national poet.

Allama Iqbal conceived the idea of Pakistan and is, therefore, regarded as one of the founding fathers of the country.

His best literary work includes Asrar-e-Khudi, Payam- i-Mashriq, Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i-Kalim and Armughan-e-Hijaz. He passed away in Lahore on April 21, 1938.
