National Security Committee approves comprehensive operation against terrorism

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The National Security Committee (NSC) on Friday agreed to expedite the operation against terrorism.

The 41st meeting of the National Security Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in which federal ministers, chairman joint chief of staff committee, service chiefs and other officials participated.

According to the declaration, the sacrifices and efforts of the security forces were acknowledged for providing durable peace to the nation. The forum reiterated its commitment to continue operations till the end of terrorism. 

The forum termed the recent wave of terrorism as a result of soft corner and thoughtless policy by the banned Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP), saying that the soft corner policy towards the banned TTP is completely contrary to public expectations and aspirations. 

According to the statement, the meeting was held in continuation of the meeting of the National Security Committee after the attack in Peshawar Police Lines on January 2. In the meeting, tributes were paid to the martyrs of the tragedy of Ghayari sector on April 7, 2012. 
The declaration said that terrorists were allowed to return without hindrance and dangerous terrorists were released from prisons in the name of confidence-building. It added that peace and stability was disrupted due to returning of the dangerous terrorists as well as terrorist organizations present in Afghanistan. 

It is stated in the statement that the meeting approved to start a comprehensive operation along with the nation and the government. The comprehensive operation includes efforts at political, diplomatic and security level and a high-level committee has been formed in this regard. The committee will make recommendations regarding implementation and limitations within two weeks. 

According to the statement, the forum appreciated the successful operation of the intelligence agency in which they arrested the most wanted terrorist Gulzar Imam alias Shambay, the founder and leader of terrorist Baloch National Army and 'Brass' and has been involved in various terrorist activities for a long time.
